Khenchen Pema Sherab’s visit to Dzogchen Beara

We were truly blessed and most fortunate to have had Khenchen Pema Sherab teaching us in Dzogchen Beara at the end of May. This was Khenchen’s first visit to Ireland. He was accompanied by Khenpo Sonam Tsewang and Ani-La. Khenchen Pema Sherab’s teachings were translated by Khenpo Sonam Tsewang.

On Wednesday 24th May, we had a wonderful day of Yang Nying Pudri Jinsek practice outside near the temple site. It was a glorious day and the sun shone brightly as we practised.

The following day Khenchen taught on a text called “Advice on the Ultimate Meaning “ by Longchen Rabjam.

Before Khenchen started the teaching he spoke about the importance of meditation. He said that we have the conducive space to practice in Dzogchen Beara. He encouraged us to create the time and space to practise here.

On the Friday, we had a full day of practice for Buddha day.

At the weekend more people joined for the teachings. Khenchen Pema Sherab taught on “The Wheel of Analytical Meditation”. This text was composed by the great 19th century Tibetan master Mipham Rinpoche. Analytical meditation is a practice of investigation and analysis of experience, undertaken on the basis of ‘calm-abiding’ meditation, which brings about the profound insight of ‘clear- seeing’.

We, as a group, felt truly blessed and grateful for having received these most profound teachings. We look forward to Khenchen Pema Sherab returning to Dzogchen Beara.
